Ride out of Kathmandu on a paved highway all the way to Pattale Danda, a hilltop viewpoint on the Okhaldhunga–Solukhumbu border where Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and a wall of 6,000–8,000 metre peaks fill the horizon. No off-road trail, no restricted permits — just six days of good asphalt, river valleys, and one of the closest, easiest Everest views in Nepal.
Not every Everest view in Nepal requires a multi-day trek or a Tibet-side permit run. The Everest View Motorbike Tour with Nepal Moto Tours takes you from Kathmandu, along the Araniko and BP Highways, to the small Rai village of Pattale Danda — long used by trekkers as a back route to Everest Base Camp via Salleri and Phaplu, and now one of the best on-road viewpoints for Everest in the country.
Everest View Motorbike Adventure - Highlights and Experience
This ride swaps high-altitude off-road riding for good tarmac, river valleys, and hairpin hill roads — a genuinely accessible way to get close to Everest on two wheels, well suited to riders taking their first international motorcycle trip.
At roughly 2,800 metres, Pattale Danda is considered the second-best on-road vantage point for Everest after Kala Patthar, with sightlines to Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, and more on a clear day.
The route follows the Sun Koshi River for much of the ride, with a resort stop at Khurkot right on its sandy banks — a good place to unwind between riding days.
The ride runs on well-paved highway through Bhaktapur, Dhulikhel, Banepa, and Sindhuli, with sweeping views of Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, and Gaurishankar along the way.
Pattale sits in Rai community territory rather than the Sherpa villages of the classic Everest Base Camp trail, giving riders a different cultural experience alongside the mountain views.
In spring, the hills around Pattale turn red and pink with blooming rhododendron, adding another layer to the sunrise viewpoint hike.
This is one of the easier motorbike tours in our lineup — almost entirely on paved highway, with no high-altitude exposure and no technical off-road riding. It suits riders taking their first international motorcycle tour, provided they're comfortable handling a bike independently on hill roads with hairpin bends. Daily riding runs 4–6 hours, with one longer 7–8 hour day on Day 4 that combines the sunrise hike with the ride back to Khurkot.
If you want a genuine Everest view without the altitude risk or permit complexity of Everest Base Camp, this ride is for you.
No special permits are required for this route. A valid international driving license is required to ride.
The best seasons for the Everest View Motorbike Tour are:
Autumn brings dry roads and the clearest mountain views; spring brings warmer riding weather and rhododendron blooms on the hills around Pattale. Winter (December–February) is rideable but cold at altitude, with occasional light snow at Pattale Danda; monsoon (June–August) brings wetter, less predictable highway conditions.
This ride combines a genuine Himalayan panorama with Rai village culture, distinct from the Sherpa villages found on the classic Everest Base Camp trail.
