Ride north out of Kathmandu into Langtang National Park, reaching Syabrubesi at the roadhead below the Langtang range, then loop back through the Yolmo villages of Helambu on the return leg. Six days combining genuine hill-road riding with a short valley walk, Tibetan Buddhist monastery stops, and views of Langtang Lirung and the Ganesh Himal along the way.

Langtang Valley Helambu Motorcycle Circuit Overview

Langtang and Helambu sit close enough to Kathmandu for a manageable loop, yet feel worlds away from the city — dense forest, glacier-fed rivers, and Tibetan Buddhist villages that have kept their character intact. Roads reach Syabrubesi, the gateway to Langtang National Park, but the valley proper beyond it — Lama Hotel, Langtang village, and Kyanjin Gompa — is trekking-only terrain, so this circuit combines riding with a short walk partway into the valley before looping back through Helambu's high Yolmo villages on the return.

Langtang Helambu Motorbike Adventure - Highlights and Experience

This is a moderate ride on hill roads with one short on-foot section into Langtang National Park — a good fit for riders who want real Himalayan scenery and culture without a long expedition.

Syabrubesi and Langtang National Park

The roadhead village below the Langtang range, and the gateway into a national park known for red pandas, langur monkeys, and glacier-carved valleys.

A short walk into the Langtang Valley

From Syabrubesi, a half-day walk along the Langtang Khola leads toward Lama Hotel, with views of dense forest and the first glimpses of the high peaks that ring the valley — as far as the road-based portion of this tour goes without a multi-day trek.

Helambu's Yolmo villages

Sermathang and the villages around it are home to the Yolmo people, known for Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and a slower pace of life, at an altitude of around 2,600 metres.

Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung views

Clear-day views of the Ganesh Himal range and Langtang Lirung accompany much of the riding on both legs of the circuit.

Trishuli River valley riding

The route out of Kathmandu follows the Trishuli River for a stretch, with terraced hillsides and small trailside villages along the way.

Itinerary

After your arrival in Kathmandu, you will get to know your guide while you make preparations to start the trip. You will receive information about safety protocols in addition to getting details about the planned course and learning about bike setup
Head out of Kathmandu on the road toward Trishuli Bazaar, following the Trishuli River valley before climbing into Langtang National Park via Dhunche. The final stretch to Syabrubesi is narrower hill road, with the Langtang range coming into view as you approach. Overnight in Syabrubesi.
Leave the bikes in Syabrubesi and set off on foot along the Langtang Khola into the national park, through dense forest with red panda and langur habitat, toward Lama Hotel before returning to Syabrubesi for the night. This is the only trekking day on the tour — it's as far into the valley as this itinerary goes without extending into a multi-day trek.
Retrace the route back through Trishuli Bazaar, then turn east toward Melamchi, gateway to the Helambu region.
Climb from Melamchi into the Helambu hills to Sermathang, a Yolmo village known for its Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and views over the surrounding ridgelines. Spend the afternoon exploring the village and its monastery on foot.
Descend from Helambu back toward Kathmandu, closing out the circuit.

More Information

Difficulty Level — Langtang Valley Helambu Circuit

This is a moderate tour, with hill-road riding on both legs and one half-day walk into Langtang National Park on Day 3. The riding itself doesn't require technical off-road skill, but the hill roads to Syabrubesi and Sermathang are narrower and rougher than open highway, with switchbacks and some unpaved sections.
